State Representative Denise Garner
Joins Parents in Celebration of
Teacher Appreciation Week
Served as a Classroom Aide and Lunchroom Duty in
District 84 Elementary School
(Fayetteville, Ark.) – State Representative Denise Garner spent last week celebrating the hard work of Arkansas teachers during the annual Teacher Appreciation Week activities.
On Friday, Rep. Garner specifically joined parents in giving teachers an extended lunch break by watching Mrs. Thelma Thomason’s Kindergarten class with homeroom parents. Mrs. Thomason has taught Kindergarten for over fifty years, spending most of her years in the Fayetteville Public Schools since 1962, specifically at Vandergriff Elementary School.
“There’s not enough appreciation we can show our teachers who spend countless hours and often their own personal money educating our kids,” said Garner. “I loved spending my time watching Mrs. Thomason’s class to give her an extended lunch. These teachers are passionate, dedicated, and committed and we can’t appreciate them enough!”
Rep. Denise Garner is a member of the House Education Committee and believes it is important to be in the classroom and hear directly from students and teachers on what is working and what is not in order to best prepare them for the ever-changing 21st century workforce.
